It’s safe to say we’re tired of winter here in Virginia. So, when we were asked to come on board for a unique garage remodel, we jumped at the opportunity to be outdoors and dream about warmer weather.

Because he’s a gemstone expert and collector in Rixeyville, VA, this particular client had a few unique requests for his future garage space.

At the top of his ‘must have’ list was an area to cut and polish stones, a place to park his tractor and easy-access storage for his abundant collection of tools.

We were more than happy to take on the challenge of these requests and can confidently say that our team successfully delivered everything the client was looking for – and more!

As far as aesthetic goes, we really wanted to deliver and make the garage feel like an extension of the home instead of an awkward addition. To make that possible, we added doors and trim to match the existing home and installed the same standing seam metal roof, PVC trim and 5” seamless gutters for continuity.

Just outside of the garage, in the same handpicked materials, we also installed a custom-built lean that our client can use for polishing and cutting his gemstones.

Every final finish was meticulously designed – from the custom awnings and windows, to the single-pour concrete floor sturdy enough to support a tractor.

Special steps were taken to install the electricity needed for an automatic swing out garage door and large windows on the front of the garage were installed to allow maximum natural light inside.

And, because we had enough materials leftover, we even created an additional loft space for our client to store his extra tools.

In the end, the special permits we had to obtain and the days working in the winter elements were worth the finished product of this beautiful garage remodel.

Now, instead of a garage where he can work on his gemstone hobby, our client has a custom space created just for that purpose – a dream come true!
