Every home remodel project Baden Contracting tackles is different, some more challenging than others. But, rather than shy away from challenges, we tackle them head on, knowing that in the end, the result is always worth it.
Not only do we learn each and every time we face a challenging remodel, but there’s also the satisfaction of seeing a client absolutely love the finished project.
Recently, we worked on a difficult deck remodel project in Vienna, Virginia.
Our client wanted a full composite deck, complete with an almond-color railing to match the exterior finishes on their existing home.
The challenge came when we took a closer look at the home and realized that there would be basement window railings and AC units to work around, making it difficult to do straightforward construction.
As with any major obstacle, compromises had to be made in order to find a way to get across the finish line.
In this case, the owners of the home decided to opt for a slightly smaller deck than they originally wanted, adding in a larger patio below the deck at a later date, in order to regain the outdoor square footage they ultimately want.
To finish the deck remodel, the Baden team added river rock below and a custom dog gate to match the railing at the top of the deck’s stairs.
We recommended adding some lattice wrapping around the post and, after a bit of deliberation, the clients agreed. What resulted was the creation of a very custom, and beautiful aesthetic, to the overall look and feel of the deck.
And most importantly, our clients were happy with our work and the new addition to their home!
